A little history...
Back in 2004 a few friends formed the first basketball team in Market Bosworth and the Bosworth Blazers were born. They had decided to enter the team into the Leicestershire league after training together for many years. They started with a good 10 players and the Bosworth Blazers proceeded to win promotion in their 1st season finishing 2nd and reaching the cup final only to lose in overtime.
The Blazers gained much support that 1st season, local interest grew and more local players began to show interest in the team and the sport. During that summer in between seasons a few younger players attended training and signed on for the new season.
The 2nd season saw them match the previous and again finished 2nd and won promotion to Division 2. Again as word spread of their existence the squad grew and before that season 26 players had signed on to play. Due to the increase in numbers they decided to create a B team to enter the Warwickshire league and give the younger players an opportunity for more match experience.
So with 2 teams in 2 leagues the Blazers started the season hoping for the A team to finish mid table with the players in the B team to gain experience. Above expectations the A team again finished 2nd, won promotion to div 1 and the B team won their 1st title in the Warwickshire league.
Season four saw the A team finish comfortably in a competitive Division 1, improving to finish 5th last season. The B team moved from the Warwickshire League to enter the Leicestershire League in Division 4 and last season gained promotion to Division 3 by finishing runners up in the league and only just missing out on silverware by losing in the cup final.
Now in their 6th season the Blazers are going strong and are always looking to grow and improve.
